The Singers for Goodness’ Sake, based in Cary, NC, is recruiting all interested singers for their Winter 2017 season. The choir prefers that members have basic music-reading experience, but the group is friendly and non-competitive, and is happy to help those who are rusty.
The first rehearsal is Tuesday, January 3, 2017, and performances will be between March 2 and 11, 2017. The theme will be songs from TV and movies. The target membership for the Winter season is 36 to 48, with a roughly equal balance of all voice types.
The Singers for Goodness’ Sake is a non-auditioned, mixed-gender, not-for-profit, non-discriminatory, secular choir. Each performance season revolves around a particular theme, but its overall repertoire encompasses a wide range of musical styles and time periods from the past to the present.
Performances are always free of charge with optional donations accepted. Each season includes a performance and reception for members’ family and friends, and is open to the public. Each season also includes two or three shows for the local community, favoring venues such as retirement homes, 55+ communities, charity events, and special programs for those who are struggling. Performances are approximately one-hour long.
The choir’s stage presence is similar to that of a classical choir, with a conservative dress code and no choreography. The Singers for Goodness’ Sake are directed by a paid conductor, and have a paid piano accompanist.
