Staff Singer at St Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Durham

The Choir of St Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Durham is seeking experienced singers for its paid positions. Singers are expected to sight-read well and have a strong voice that will reinforce their section. Experience with the liturgy of the Episcopal Church is helpful, but not required. Commitment includes a weekly rehearsals (Wednesdays from 7:00pm to 8:30pm & Sundays at 9:30am) and Sunday service (begins at 10:30am) as well as 5-6 special services throughout the year. Rehearsals and services begin in mid-August, but interested singers will be heard until mid–September. Remuneration is $100 per unit (service and rehearsal). Paid Music Director – Mens A Capella Chorus

The Research Triangle Park Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society is seeking applications for a new musical and artistic director. The successful candidate will possess a natural leadership carriage that will keep chorus members present and focused, and audience members engaged. The ability to share musical knowledge and utilize various methods of teaching to reach multiple learning styles will succeed in raising the performance levels of the chorus. Additionally, the successful candidate will be able to present clean visual direction, rhythm, and their interpretation of each song. They will have clear written and verbal communication, and will feel comfortable with song choreography, within members’ abilities.

The chorus rehearses Monday nights from 7:15 to 9:45 and performs regularly, including two annual contests, two annual shows, and a multitude of other community engagements.

Staff Singer Positions Available at Duke Chapel

Duke Evensong & Vespers Staff Singer Auditions
Duke University Chapel is seeking staff singers from late August 2018, or as soon as possible thereafter, to join its professional octet. The successful candidates will be highly accomplished and versatile singers with strong sight-reading skills who will enjoy being part of a vibrant and friendly ensemble. The service repertoire is large and varied and the successful applicants are likely to have extensive experience in professional singing. Duties include Choral Evensong Sundays at 4:00pm, rotating calls for Choral Vespers on Thursdays, and special services and concerts throughout the year. Rehearsals are held on Monday evenings. Duke Chapel Bach Ensemble Auditions
Experienced singers are invited to audition for Duke Chapel’s Bach Ensemble conducted by Dr. Philip Cave. The ensemble sings approximately once a month during term-time, performing music by J.S. Bach and his contemporaries, often accompanied by period instruments. The size and make-up of the ensemble changes to suit the works being performed. Singers interested in auditioning should have significant experience and solid vocal technique, and be able to sing in a style appropriate to early music. Duke Chapel Choir Seeks Section Leaders
The Duke University Chapel Choir is seeking experienced sopranos, altos, tenors, and basses for paid section leader positions. Section leaders will be expected to sight-read at a high level, display confident preparation of service and concert music, and have a strong voice which reinforces their section. Section leaders may also be asked to perform occasional solo work. The ability to lead sectional rehearsals is preferred. Attendance requirements include Wednesday evening rehearsals from 6:00-7:50pm, Sunday morning rehearsals from 9:15-10:30am, and the 11:00am worship service. The Duke Chapel Choir will also give two concerts this academic year: Handel’s Messiah in December (three performances) and Bach’s St. Matthew Passion in March.
