Durham Savoyards to Hold Auditions for Thespis and Trial by Jury May 23-25

The Durham Savoyards, Ltd., a local community theatre group that has been performing the topsy-turvy musical comedies of Gilbert & Sullivan for more than 50 years, will be holding auditions for Thespis and Trial by Jury in the Durham Arts Council on Monday, May 22nd and Tuesday, May 23rd, with call-backs Thursday, May 25th.  Rehearsals will start July 30, and performances will be October 12-15 at East Chapel Hill High School. Must be 16 and over by July 30 to audition.  Please email auditions@durhamsavoyards.org to schedule an audition.

You can read full details about Durham Savoyards auditions.  Leads and stage chorus can expect 2-3 rehearsals a week (never on Wednesday or Saturday), increasing to every day the week before the performance.

This is a very special event for the Durham Savoyards.  Sullivan’s original score to Thespis was almost entirely lost, and their musical director, Alan Riley Jones, has crafted a delightful new score in the style of Sullivan.  This will be the world premiere performance of the fully orchestrated version of this score.  Join them!
