Meredith College Community Chorus is a non-auditioned, mixed choral ensemble that sings quality literature comprised of known classics, overlooked masterpieces, and works by contemporary composers. Rehearsals are designed to encourage a well-rounded musician, with a focus on healthy vocal technique, strong aural skills, musical and text analysis, understanding of historical or contemporary context, and performing skills. Rehearsals are on Sundays from 3-5 PM in Jones Hall, room 121. Please contact Dr. Shannon Gravelle if you have any questions.
The North Carolina Summer Opera, the newest opera organization established in 2018, is proud to present its first production, Giacomo Puccini’s Turandot in semi-staged workshop with chorus in Durham and Raleigh in August 2018!
We plan to produce one opera each summer in the Research Triangle area.
Founded as the Raleigh Oratorio Society, the North Carolina Master Chorale is committed to bringing the very finest in choral music performance to Raleigh and North Carolina audiences. Under the direction of Dr. Alfred E. Sturgis since 1993, the organization includes the large volunteer Chorale and a professional Chamber Choir of 22 singers.
North Carolina Opera is a new company formed from the merger of Opera Company of North Carolina and Capital Opera Raleigh. NCO will produce large, main-stage productions as well performances in a variety of venues across the Triangle. Audiences will hear singers of national and international renown, along with the finest talent from across the state. The new company will provide a nurturing environment for young singers, school-based performances, and listening and learning opportunities for all ages.
