On Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 3:00 pm, Cantari, a VOICES ensemble, will present Music by Dan Locklair. The performance will take place in the Chapel of the Cross, located at 304 E. Franklin St. in Chapel Hill.
The program will feature two works by North Carolina’s highly acclaimed composer Dan Locklair. A DuBose Heyward Triptych portrays the city of Charleston, SC, with its coastal beauty and Civil War history, and Requiem, a lovely, serene setting accompanied by organist Matthew Brown.
Dan Locklair, a native of Charlotte, NC, is Composer-in-Residence and Professor of Music at Wake Forest University. He and his wife, Paula, will be attending Cantari’s performance in March.
Tickets are $17 for Adults, $15 for Seniors (65+), and $10 for Students and are available at the door, from members, and online. Tickets purchased online will be available at will call.
Cantari, Voices’ select vocal ensemble, made its choral debut in the 2006-07 season. Singing mostly a cappella music, Cantari’s vocal selections are chosen from medieval to modern repertoire, and include sacred and secular, serious and humorous numbers.
