Cary Community Choir Music Director

Cary Community Choir seeks a Music Director. This is a part-time, paid, one year position (with possible future successive terms) based in Cary, North Carolina.  The Director is responsible for directing a 100+ volunteer mixed chorus, instrumentalists and soloists at three rehearsals and one annual performance of portions of Handel’s Messiah in early December, 2019.  The rehearsals and performance will take place at a local Cary church.  The Director will be an ex officio member of the Cary Community Choir Board of Directors and will liaise and collaborate with the Board in the selection of instrumentalists and soloists. Applications will be accepted through April 30, 2019. Tentative hiring date is May 2019

The Director must have choral and orchestral conducting experience, preferably conducting Handel’s Messiah.  The Director must have effective rehearsal techniques for a volunteer choir, and be adept at selecting and hiring Messiah soloists.  The Director must be available to liaise with the Board of Directors throughout the year and attend selected board meetings, as requested.

Women’s Voices Chorus Seeks New Artistic Director

Women’s Voices Chorus of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, seeks an experienced choral conductor with the vision and leadership necessary to guide this dedicated choir’s musical and vocal growth. They are looking for someone to continue and further develop their tradition of innovative programming. Now in its 26th season, Women’s Voices Chorus is an auditioned chorus of approximately 70 sopranos and altos. An essential, but by no means exclusive, part of their mission is the performance of music written by and/or specifically for women. They also emphasize the commissioning of new works. The chorus sings music in a wide variety of styles, from early to contemporary, from diverse cultures, and in many languages.
Women’s Voices Chorus currently prepares two programs each year. They rehearse weekly on Monday evenings from late August until early May, with occasional extra rehearsals on weekends. The Artistic Director may also lead a summer community chorus sponsored by WVC. They welcome and encourage applications from candidates of diverse backgrounds. To apply, please submit:
